Located on the east bank of the river Vistula, Praga was first mentioned in 1432, until 1791 it formed a&nbsp;separate town with its own city charter. Until now it\u2019s often referred as a&nbsp;sort of separate part of the city. \u00a0District of Praga is divided into northern (Praga P\u00f3\u0142noc) and southern part (Praga Po\u0142udnie).<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The bad public image of Praga didn\u2019t come from nowhere. Praga used to be very neglected district populated by the poorest part of society. Many call it the Brooklyn of Warsaw.<\/p>\n<p>Praga has the oldest pre-war buildings in the city.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Praga is a&nbsp;special environment\u00a0 for\u00a0 many galleries and designers who like the old factory buildings and tenement houses. Nowadays, Praga is rejuvenating and very quickly becoming a&nbsp;hype place. Young artists, designers move there with their ateliers and many new independent clubs found its home in the old parts of Praga.<\/p>\n<p>While the district is rather poor and you need to be a&nbsp;bit careful at night, it\u2019s not allover the same. For example Zabkowska Street is worth a&nbsp;visit where beautiful old houses were part of a&nbsp;scenegraphy in the award-winning \u201cThe Pianist\u201d movie.<\/p>\n<p>Praga Poludnie hosts diplomats&#8217; borough Saska Kepa. The streets here derive its names from different countries with Francuska (French Street) being the center of Saska Kepa.
